I just streamed Phil's Earthquake Space from the night before. Pretty damn creepy too, but creepier on 4/19. He has this demonic sound to hos voice as he "narrates" during space. I don't ever recall any vocals during space, but these two nights would cause some to throw out the rest of the shrooms and put the pipe down.

This was my favorite night of all of them. Forty of us rented a purple school bus and rode into Baltimore. At a light near the Civic Center, a guy climbs on the bus and tells us it's "trip night tonight", hands us all goodies, two each, and hops off the bus. We bought tickets at the door, and got a whole row on the floor to ourselves. From what I remember of the Raven Space, all the lights were out, or maybe my eyes were closed. Nobody made a sound in our row. Nobody moved for what felt like an eternity. Then The Wheel starts. Drive you hard, fix you back up. I'll never forget that feeling.

Great story. Things were really different then. Today, not only would it be hard to imagine anyone sharing that quanity, but even more unimaginable consumming "candy from strangers". It was a kinder gentler era. It must have been a shocking experience to hear that Raven Space when you were expecting the typical space when you're peaking and get that instead!!

Even more surprising, getting forty tickets toghether at the door on the floor. Back then and before (Check out 5-26-77 my first show, lucky me), the Old Barn took a while to fill up. The Good Loving at the end of the show was happy, super-sweaty, dancing. Walked out thinking WTF just happened to us. WTF is still happenin'...
